Maruti Suzuki Electric MPV To Use eVX Platform

Maruti Suzuki is one of the manufacturers which is late to the electric vehicle segment as the first product from the company is going to be the production version of eVX Concept, which made its debut at the 2023 Auto Expo and will be based on a completely new platform, which will be developed for electric vehicle. Along with this, the Indian manufacturer is also working on multiple electric vehicles and one of the models is a new electric MPV, which is currently under development and is internally codenamed YMC.

The 27PL skateboard is a modular platform as it can accommodate models of various sizes and shapes. The upcoming YMC electric MPV will make use of this modular platform as sharing parts will help the company to reduce the overall cost. The launch of this new electric MPV is expected to take place after the introduction of the eVX production model according to reports, the expected timeline is one and a half years after the eVX launch, which is likely to be in the second half of 2026 or most probably during the festival season.

After its launch, the YMC electric MPV will be the sixth three-row model of Maruti Suzuki. The company hasn’t revealed many details about the YMC but we can expect a concept model to be revealed at the upcoming expo. The design theme is likely to be different from current models in Maruti’s portfolio while the interior might get a modern theme and it will be packed with features. The YMC is expected to be powered by either a 40 kWh or 60 kWh battery pack with a single or dual-motor option. We can expect more details to be revealed in the coming months.
