Mahindra is developing next-generation Scorpio for some time now and the test mule has been spotted regularly in public roads. Until now most of them come with dummy headlamps and tail lamps as the company was yet to finalise it. Finally, a test mule has been spotted with final production design headlamps and tail lamps. The design appears to be inspired by other Mahindra models especially Alturas as SUV gets a bold look.
The headlamps look like projector one with a square design and round LED DRLs. The fog lamps are expected to be positioned on the lower portion of the bumper with air-curtains to improve air-flow. To continue the SUV design theme, Mahindra will give faux skid plates at the front and rear. The side gets alloy wheels with a new design theme and the rear continues to get side hinged doors like the current model. The tail lamps are expected to be LED units.
The interior of Scorpio will be completely different than the current model as the company will improve fit and finish along with the quality of materials. The infotainment system is expected to be a vertical unit in the centre console with lots of information packed into it along with connectivity options like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The Scorpio will come with features like climate control, sunroof, reverse camera, leather seats and more.
Mahindra Scorpio is based on a completely new platform and the dimensions will be larger than the outgoing model, which will improve space on all three rows. Like all the new generation Mahindra models, safety will be important too. The engine options of Scorpio will be same as Thar. The 2.2 L mHawk diesel engine produces 132 hp and the all-new 2.0 L turbo petrol engine with 152 hp. The gearbox options include manual and auto. The new Scorpio is expected to make its debut in October 2021.
