Toyota officially revealed the Corolla Cross model in Thailand as the new crossover is positioned between C-HR and RAV4 in the Japanese manufacturer lineup. The Corolla Cross is based on the TNGA platform of Toyota as most models of the company is based on this same platform. The design of Cross is not radical like the C-HR and it is similar to conventional crossover models as it will appeal to a wider audience.
The front gets a big grille with a black finish and Toyota logo in the middle while the headlamps come with a swept-back design theme. The company has given projector headlamps with eyebrow like LED DRL on top. The fog lamps are positioned near the air-intake and a black plastic cladding runs across the body. Toyota has also given faux skid plates at the front and back to continue the SUV design theme.
The mirrors are placed on the door to reduce the drag and the design theme is similar to Volkswagen Tiguan. While the rear gets LED tail lamps along with a new bumper and Integrated bumper. The badging of Corolla Cross is positioned on the top of number plate. The interior design of the Corolla Cross is simple and in line with other Toyota models as the touch screen infotainment system is positioned like a tablet while the instrument cluster is part digital.
Toyota Corolla Cross measures 4,460 mm length, 1825 mm width, 1620 mm height and wheelbase is 2,640 mm. In Thailand, Toyota is offering two engine options as the petrol engine is 1.8 L 2ZR-FBE unit producing 140 hp and 175 Nm. The hybrid engine gets a 600-volt electric powertrain with 72 hp and 163 Nm along with 1.8 L petrol engine with 98 hp and 142 Nm. Toyota will begin sales of Corolla Cross later this year in Thailand and the company hasn’t given any information whether the new model will come to India or not.
