Maruti Suzuki Alto is one of the most popular models in the country. The company has already sold more than 2 million units on our roads. The rumours of next-generation Alto has been in the air for some time now and to give it more strength, a test mule of new Alto has been spotted for the first time. The silhouette of the test mule immediately gave the impression that the upcoming Alto will be an evolution of the current model.
As we can see from the side, Maruti has increased overall dimensions but the height is likely to be same as the earlier model and it will address one of the major cons of the current model, Interior space. The front and rear passengers will have adequate space and thus will improve the comfort of the entry-level hatchback. Maruti Suzuki continues to use the same old type door handles as we were expecting modern pull-type ones.
The indicator on the wheel arches has been retained on the new model but the outside rearview mirrors appear to be different and they look sleeker. The test mule spotted ride on steel wheels and the body has been camouflaged really well to hide the details. The rear gets new tail lamps, which doesn’t protrude into the hatch door and the bumper is also new with reflectors integrated into it. Maruti has also given spoiler in the new Alto.
The interior is expected to be completely different from the current model as the dashboard will get a modern design theme with the better quality too. Maruti will also pack the Alto with features like touch screen infotainment system, steering mounted controls, rear camera and more. The Alto is likely to be powered by either 1.0 L K-Series engine or an updated version of current 0.8 L engine with manual and an AMT too.
