Ford India is going to launch a new SUV ahead of EcoSport and below Endeavour. The upcoming SUV will be jointly developed by Mahindra as the partnership will result in a total of 6 cars, which will be distributed between both manufacturers. Recently a spy shot of the Ford new SUV has surfaced online ahead of the launch as Indian Auto published a rendering based on the spy shot, which gives an early look of the SUV.
The upcoming SUV follows the same design theme as modern SUVs as the front gets chrome strutted grille, which gives a bold look for the SUV while the position of the conventional headlamp is taken by three strips LED DRLs. The actual headlamps are positioned below the LED DRLs and they are projectors instead of the LED units. The fog lamps will be positioned on the lower portion of the bumper just like the MG Hector.
Ford has also given faux skid plates and black plastic cladding across the body for SUV look. The front gives bold and muscular SUV look, the upcoming Mahindra XUV 500 will also have the same design theme as both these models will be based on the same platform with the engine and other features shared between both SUVs to keep the cost down but the exterior design theme is expected to be completely different as it will benefit both manufacturers.
The rear gets LED tail lamps and faux skid plate on the bumper. We are yet to see the rear but the interior is going to be modern as the centre console will get a big touch screen with connected car features too. The instrument cluster is expected to be fully digital with lots of customising options too. The upcoming compact SUV will be powered by diesel and petrol engines with manual and automatic transmission. The launch will take place after the introduction of new Mahindra XUV 500.
