Mahindra Scorpio N Petrol Is More Popular Than Diesel

Mahindra Scorpio N continues the success story of the company as the new model justifies the legendary name with really good sales numbers. According to new reports, the petrol version of the Scorpio N is more popular than the Diesel even more the combined sales numbers of the diesel N model and Classic model is still lower than the petrol version. This sales report is quite exciting that the times have changed where the bigger SUVs were always wanted in diesel powertrains for the Torque and fuel efficiency the diesel engines offered. The BS6 emission norms and the world’s transition to cleaner fuel vehicles might have influenced the customers to choose the petrol powertrain over the diesel.

Mahindra sold 4181 units of petrol Scorpio N whereas the combined sales output of Classic and N diesel models is only 2274 units. The Thar maker offers the Scorpio Classic only in diesel powertrain whereas the Scorpio N is offered in both diesel and petrol powertrain.  The Scorpio N was launched earlier this year on June 2022. The petrol Scorpio is powered by a 2.0-litre mStallion petrol engine that produces 200 bhp power and 380 Nm of torque whereas the Scorpio N diesel is powered by a 2.2-litre mHawk engine that produces 175 bhp power and 370 Nm of torque. Both these engines are mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission and a 6-speed manual. The Scorpio Classic is powered by the 2.2 Litre mHawk diesel engine that produces 130 bhp power and 300 Nm of torque and it is available in manual transmission.

Both the Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic are also in good demand and both vehicles have an average waiting period of 3 months. The waiting period is up to 5 months in some cities for SUVs. The Scorpio N becomes the First body-on-frame SUV to score a 5-star rating at the GNCAP crash test under the updated safety protocol. Making it the safest SUV with a 5-star rating will again boost the demand for the SUV in the market and the waiting period is more likely to increase. Mahindra is planning to reduce the waiting period for its SUVs by implementing productive manufacturing measures in the manufacturing plant to meet customer needs without much delay.
