By Hyundai is updating its entire portfolio to meet the upcoming emission norms and as part of that some models get revised engines. The Alcazar is one of them as the 2.0 L petrol engine has been discontinued and will be replaced with a new 1.5 L Turbo petrol engine, which will be available on the next-generation Verna, Creta and also models from Kia. This engine has been updated to meet the new RDE norms and it can run on 20 per cent Ethanol fuel too.
The earlier 2.0 L petrol engine produces 159 hp and 191 Nm of torque but the new 1.5 L turbo petrol which is down on the engine doesn’t lag behind as it produces 158 hp of power and 253 Nm of torque. The improved torque output will definitely improve the overall driving experience. This engine is mated to a 6-speed manual and 7-speed DCT. Hyundai also offers an Idle engine start-stop system to improve mileage as the manual returns 17.5 kmpl and 18 kmpl for the automatic.
