Volkswagen ID.4 Revealed In India, To Be Brand’s First EV

Volkswagen officially revealed the ID.4 at the Annual Brand Conference. The ID.4 has been spotted many times in India even during the last Brand Conference, the company brought in the ID.4 but didn’t showcase it. The German manufacturer confirmed that ID.4 is going to be the first electric vehicle of the company in India but the launch timeline is not yet revealed. The ID.4 is the production version of the I.D Crozz concept showcased in 2017 at the Shanghai Auto Show and it is already on sale in many International markets.

The ID.4 is based on the MEB platform of Volkswagen and it already underpins many models across the brand. Volkswagen is expected to import the ID.4 to India as the company is developing an India-specific electric model, which is going to be introduced sometime in 2026 or 2027. Recently, Volkswagen introduced an update for the ID.4 in European markets and the major change is the introduction of a new 12.9-inch infotainment system which comes with the latest software as it is more intuitive than the earlier one.

The German manufacturer has updated the steering wheel and instrument cluster also. In the International market, Volkswagen is offering the ID.4 in both single-motor and dual-motor versions. The single-motor version comes with a 58 kWh battery pack with 201 hp while the dual-motor version comes with a 77 kWh battery pack with 330 hp. The claimed range of the rear-wheel drive model is 442 km and all-wheel drive is 410 km. The ID.4 also comes with different regeneration modes to further increase the range and the model supports fast charging also.
