MG Might Price Cloud EV Under Rs. 20 Lakh

As part of its expansion strategy in India, MG is directing substantial investments towards electric and electrified vehicles, with the Cloud EV leading the charge. Originally sold under the Wuling brand in Indonesia and as the Baojun Yunduo in China, the Cloud EV will undergo a rebranding as an MG for the Indian market, following the footsteps of the Wuling Air, rechristened as the Comet. This strategic move signifies MG’s commitment to catering to the evolving preferences of Indian consumers.

The Cloud EV, spotted testing on Indian roads, promises a compelling package, potentially priced under Rs. 20 lakh. This competitive pricing strategy positions it squarely against popular EVs like the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400, offering a more affordable alternative to MG’s own ZS EV, a consistent performer in the market. Key to its aggressive pricing is a high level of localization, including the battery pack, enabling MG to strike the right balance between affordability and cutting-edge technology. Measuring around 4.3 meters in length with a spacious wheelbase of 2,700mm, the Cloud EV combines the versatility of an MPV with the agility of a hatchback, promising a unique driving experience.

Inside, the Cloud EV boasts a minimalist design ethos, highlighted by a large touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, and innovative seating configurations, including a “sofa mode” with a 135-degree backseat recline. Additionally, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) enhance safety and convenience, with features like a 360-degree camera adding to its appeal. Internationally, the Cloud EV offers two battery pack options, delivering impressive ranges of 360km and 460km, powered by a robust front-axle-mounted synchronous motor generating 134hp. While its dimensions may be slightly smaller compared to traditional MPVs in India, its all-electric nature positions it as a standout contender in its segment until the arrival of the Kia Carens EV in late 2025.
