Toyota Fortuner Facelift Debut With Updated Engine And New Tech

Toyota officially revealed the much-awaited Fortuner facelift in Thailand. The updated model gets minor exterior tweaks and it is now available in two different variants. The regular Fortuner comes with a new mesh grille and tweaked headlamps with LED DRLs while the bumper is also new and the fog lamps are now LEDs. Toyota has also given sequential LED turn indicators and it is placed on the lower part of the bumper. The SUV also gets new skid plates too.

The changes to the side are limited to updated 18-inch alloy wheels and the side steps also get a new design. The rear gets tweaked LED tail lamps along with a new bumper. The premium Legendary variants have lot more changes, which start with new dual projector LED headlamps, split grille with blackout elements instead of chrome, stainless steel tips for the exhaust and the alloy wheel has been upgraded to 20-inch with new design too.

The changes to the interior are minor as Toyota has finally added a new touch screen infotainment system. The regular model comes with the 8-inch unit while the Legendary variant gets 9-inch with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Toyota has also updated the 4.2 inch MID in the instrument cluster and it now shows wheel position. The updated Fortuner comes with new features like a panoramic 360-degree camera, ambient lighting, JBL audio system and more.

Toyota Fortuner facelift model gets 7 airbags on the Legendary variant along with lots of safety features and the SUV gets T-connect telematic system too. The Fortuner is powered by two diesel engines – 2.4 L and 2.8 L. The smaller 2.4 L engine puts out 150 PS at 3,400 rpm and 400 Nm between 1,600 – 2,000 rpm. But the 2.8 L engine has been updated to produce 204 PS at 3,400 rpm and 500 Nm between 1,600 – 2,000 rpm, which is an increase of 27 hp and 50 Nm. The transmission options remain the same 6-speed manual and AT. Toyota is likely to launch the updated Fortuner next year in India.
