Tata Motors, a name synonymous with innovation and safety, has once again set a new benchmark for vehicle safety with its flagship SUVs, the Harrier and Safari. These models have undergone the rigorous Global NCAP crash tests, securing an impressive 5-star safety rating. This accomplishment marks a significant milestone for Tata Motors as the Harrier and Safari are the first of their vehicles to be tested under the new and more stringent Global NCAP testing protocol.

The latest testing protocol signifies a leap forward in terms of safety standards, rendering a direct comparison with older-rated models irrelevant. While previous Tata vehicles, including the Nano, Zest, Nexon, Altroz, Tiago, Tigor, and the Punch, have all undergone Global NCAP crash tests and achieved commendable ratings, the Harrier and Safari’s success in this new era of testing is a testament to Tata’s unwavering commitment to safety. The test results showcase the Harrier and Safari’s exceptional safety features. Both SUVs secured 33.05 out of 34 points for adult occupant protection, a solid demonstration of their ability to safeguard the driver and passengers.

The protection offered for the head and neck of occupants received a “good” rating, while chest protection was deemed “adequate.” In side-impact tests with a deformable barrier, the Harrier and Safari facelifts demonstrated “good protection” for head, chest, abdomen, and pelvis, a testament to their advanced safety measures. The standard curtain airbags played a pivotal role in ensuring head and pelvis protection, with marginal protection for the chest and adequate protection for the abdomen in side pole impact tests.

Furthermore, Tata’s unwavering commitment to child safety shines through as the Harrier and Safari also received a remarkable 5-star rating in child occupant protection tests. These results were achieved through comprehensive testing with dummies representing an 18-month-old and a 3-year-old child, both positioned in rear-facing child seats. The Child Restraint System (CRS) installation and performance earned a perfect score, with a maximum dynamic score of 24. The inclusion of ISOFIX mounting points in the outer rear seats of the second row further demonstrates Tata’s dedication to child safety. These impressive results signify a bright future for Tata Motors, reinforcing their position as a frontrunner in vehicle safety and innovation.
