Skoda Rapid Automatic Teased, Launch On September 17

Skoda India officially released a new teaser video of Rapid Automatic ahead of the launch which will take place on September 17. The Rapid Automatic was already announced at the BS6 launch but the company delayed the market introduction due to various reasons. Skoda has already commenced bookings of the Rapid Automatic in India for Rs. 25,000 which will be refunded if cancelled and customers can booking via online or at the dealership.

The launch will take place online and according to the company, the deliveries of Rapid Automatic will commence from September 18 onwards. Earlier the Rapid was available with DSG gearbox for the petrol and diesel variants. Now the diesel and DSG gearbox has been discontinued. The Rapid Automatic comes with 6-speed torque converter gearbox and this gearbox unit will be used in upcoming Volkswagen Polo and Vento.

The Rapid Automatic is powered by brand new 1.0 L 3-cylinder engine, which was introduced as part of the BS6 update and it produces 110 PS of power and 175 Nm of torque. According to Skoda, this engine returns 16.24 kmpl, which is good considering the size of Rapid. We are expecting Skoda to offer the Rapid automatic in multiple variants as it will make the sedan accessible for customers just like the introduction of the new base variant.

Skoda Rapid Automatic comes with features like a touch-screen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, climate control, rear-AC vents, dual-airbags, ABS with EBD, rear camera, parking sensors, alloy wheels, projector headlamps, LED DRLs and more. We will soon bring you a detailed drive review of Skoda Rapid Automatic and it competes against the likes of Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
