Skoda India Planning To Introduce Diesel Engine With New Superb

Most of the manufacturers are moving away from diesel engines as they are not able to meet the stringent emission norms, even if they could but still the cost will be really high which will impact the final pricing of the vehicle. Skoda discontinued the diesel engines during the BS6 transformation now the company is changing its approach as they are planning to bring back diesel engines to India but there is a catch as the European manufacturer will introduce the diesel engine with the next-generation Superb later this year.

Petr Janeba, Head of International Sales at Skoda Auto confirmed this development as the company will importing the next-generation Superb and they offer it in European markets so it won’t be a big issue for Skoda. One of the reasons for bringing back diesel engines is that customers in the premium segment still prefer diesel engines, which is why people look for alternative models instead of sedans as there is no option for it. This is going to create a big revolution in the market and if numbers are good then it will be a big boost for the Skoda India division.

The new generation Superb looks completely different from the current model as it looks very elegant and sophisticated. The exterior design of the new Superb follows Skoda’s Modern Solid design language, incorporating bold shoulder lines and angular LED headlights. These design elements, coupled with a focus on aerodynamics, resulted in a 10 per cent reduction in drag for the sedan and 15 per cent for the estate. In terms of size, the new Superb is approximately 40mm longer and 10mm taller than its predecessor, offering increased luggage capacity with 20 litres more in the sedan.
