MG’s New EV In India Could Be Named As Excelor

MG India is planning to launch a new electric vehicle in India as has been confirmed earlier but the British manufacturer hasn’t confirmed the model or any details about it. Now the company has trademarked the name Excelor in India and it was applied back in December 2023, it has been accepted too. It’s worth noting that the mere trademarking of a name doesn’t guarantee the launch of a corresponding model. However, it does indicate MG’s strategic foresight in securing nomenclature rights for potential future offerings.

MG’s recent collaboration with JSW, where the latter acquired a significant stake in MG Motor India, adds another layer of intrigue. This partnership signifies a strategic alliance aimed at bolstering MG’s presence in the Indian automotive landscape. With JSW’s support, MG is poised to unveil new initiatives, possibly including the much-anticipated Excelor EV. The timing of MG’s forthcoming announcements aligns with its strategic vision for the Indian market. Scheduled for March 20, these revelations are expected to shed light on the company’s future plans, potentially unveiling the mystery surrounding the Excelor.

While details regarding the Excelor’s specifications, size, and body style remain undisclosed. Apart from the upcoming model, MG is also planning to introduce an update for the Gloster as the test mule has been spied on several times across different parts of the country. The Gloster facelift is expected to get major exterior design tweaks to improve the looks of the SUV along with a redesign for the interior too as we can expect MG to pack the SUV with even more features but the engine might remain the same.
