Mercedes AMG GT43 Coupe With Four-Cylinder Engine Is Here

Mercedes AMG officially revealed the new AMG GT43 Coupe but the big talking point is that the V8 engine has been replaced with a four-cylinder unit, marking a departure from convention in pursuit of efficiency and agility. Building upon the success of the SL roadster’s four-cylinder variant introduced in 2022, Mercedes-AMG has integrated the same 2.0-litre engine into the GT43 Coupe. Despite its smaller size, this powerplant delivers an impressive 416 horsepower, surpassing its convertible counterpart by a significant margin.

This engine produces 500 Nm torque on tap, the GT43 Coupe promises exhilarating performance while maintaining a more accessible entry point into the AMG GT range. One of the most noteworthy features inherited from its SL43 sibling is the Formula1-derived electric exhaust gas turbocharger, ensuring instantaneous throttle response and enhanced efficiency. Additionally, the GT43 Coupe benefits from a mild-hybrid system, providing a temporary boost of 14 hp when needed, further enhancing its dynamic capabilities.

The driving experience is further enhanced by a rear-wheel-drive layout, offering purists a more engaging connection to the road. Paired with a nine-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, power delivery is seamless and precise, allowing the GT43 Coupe to sprint from 0 to 100 kph in just 4.6 seconds. While the GT43 Coupe may not match the blistering acceleration of its V8 counterpart, its more refined character and accessible price point make it an appealing option for enthusiasts seeking a balance of performance and comfort. Optional features such as all-wheel steering further enhance agility and stability, ensuring an exhilarating driving experience across a variety of conditions.
