Kia To Launch Carens Diesel Manual In India Soon

Kia is planning to expand the variant lineup of Carens in India as the company currently offers the diesel engine with either the iMT or automatic. If you want an affordable manual gearbox, then the only option is the 1.5 L naturally aspirated petrol engine with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Now the Korean manufacturer will introduce a 6-speed manual gearbox with the diesel engine as the iMT gearbox will be discontinued once it is introduced as they don’t want to create confusion among buyers which could impact automatic sales.

Even before the launch, the price of manual models has been leaked and analysing the price, the manual variants are priced at a premium compared to the existing iMT models. The diesel manual gearbox will be available in Premium, Premium (O), Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury and Luxury Plus. The Premium variant is priced at Rs. 12.67 Lakh, which is Rs. 2000 more than the current iMT variant. The Prestige comes at a premium of Rs. 5000 and Rs. 2000 for the Prestige Plus while the most expensive is the Luxury as the price increased by Rs. 20,000.

The Carens is powered by a 1.5 L diesel engine producing 113 bhp of power and 250 Nm of torque. Apart from the 6-speed manual gearbox, Kia is already offering the six-speed torque convertor with the diesel engine. The company offer two petrol engines also with the Carens. Kia has already sold more than one lakh units of the Carens in India, which shows how popular the model is. The Carens is available in nine colour options – Blue, Red, Black, Silver, Grey, White, Clear White and Matte Graphite. We can expect an official announcement soon.
