Hyundai Has No Plans to Launch Verna N Line in India

Hyundai is expanding the N Line models in India as the company recently launched the third model, which is the Creta N Line. The company has already sold more than 22,000 units of the i20 N Line and Venue N Line in India. There were reports that the next model line is going to be Verna but Tarun Garg, COO of Hyundai Motor India has confirmed that the company has no plans to launch the Verna N Line in India. The sedan segment is shrinking even though Verna is currently the best-selling model in its segment.

The Research and Development cost of Verna N Line doesn’t make sense as they are not expecting much volume. Even though enthusiasts in India will love the Verna N Line as it will increase its sporty appeal with revised exterior and interior changes along with some mechanical updates is certainly going to make the driving experience of the sedan much better. Volkswagen is already offering a GT line in Virtus which is a slightly sporty-looking variant compared to the regular model.

The company is focusing on introducing new models in India, especially in the electric vehicle segment as the volume model is still some time away. The Creta electric model is expected to arrive next year but it will be priced at a premium. Tarun Garg has already confirmed that the Korean manufacturer is not planning to introduce Hybrid vehicles in India even though the technology is already ready with the company. One of the reasons for not introducing Hybrid technology in India is the taxation structure which is 43 per cent while electric vehicles attract just 5 per cent tax, which makes the latter a cheaper option compared to the Hybrid.
