Honda City Facelift To Launch In India By March 2023

The Japanese manufacturer Honda is preparing to launch the facelift of the fifth generation City in India by March 2023. The fifth generation City was launched in the country back in July 2020. The City is one of the longest running sedan in the country for more than 2 decades. The fifth generation City is likely to get only some minor cosmetic updates as part of the mid life refresh. The City is the flagship sedan of the brand and it is one of the largest selling sedan in the country. Eventhough the world is now more concentrated towards SUVs the charm for the City sedan has not gone.

The City facelift is expected to come with revised front grille and some added soft plastic elements. No major changes in the design is expected. However the vehicle is expected to get added features such as ventilated seats and wireless charger. The Interior layout will remain the same. Honda also will add more variants to the City. The City e:HEV powertrain is currently available only in the top spec model hence Honda is expected to add an affordable trim in e:HEV powertrain.

The Diesel City is likely to be discontinued from its Line-up as the brand has already announced to cease the diesel engines on all models to comply with BS6 emission norms. The City will be powered only by petrol and petrol hybrid engine. The 1.5 litre petrol engine in the City produces a maximum power of 121 bhp and 145 Nm of torque which is mated to either a 6-speed manual or CVT automatic gearboxes. The City e:HEV powertrain is powered by 1.5 litre petrol hybrid that runs on Atkinson Cycle produces a maximum power of 126 bhp and 253 Nm of torque which is matted to an e-CVT transmission.
