By Force Gurkha 5-door has been teased for the first time in India as it is one of the most awaited models to be introduced in the Indian market. The Indian manufacturer confirmed that the three-door model, which was discontinued in April last year because of the BS6 Phase-II norms will also make a comeback. in India along with the new five-door model but in the teaser, the video shows only the 5-door model. The Gurkha 5-door follows the footsteps of the three-door model as the overall design theme is similar for both models but still, the company has made some changes.
Some reports have earlier indicated that the Gurkha might finally get LED headlamps for the first time. The bumper design is also slightly different from the smaller version. Another major change coming to the lifestyle SUV is the addition of 18-inch alloy wheels instead of 16-inch on the three-door model. The ride on the three-door model is not great and the introduction of bigger wheels might make it even worse or the engineers could have found some solution to work around the problems, which will make it better.
The interior is also similar to the three-door model but the company might add some premium features to the five-door version and it could be offered in either 6 or 7-seater options. The biggest change is on the mechanical side as the 5-door model gets a shift-on-the-fly 4WD knob instead of the proper lever we have seen till now and the differential lock is also gone. These changes could make a big impact while off-roading and it could be introduced on the 3-door model. The engine is likely to be the same unit as the three-door version.
