European Citroen eC3 For Europe Officially Revealed With 320 Km Range

Citroen has officially unveiled its fourth-generation C3, and it’s making a significant shift towards electric power. After achieving over 5.6 million sales of its combustion-powered C3 models, the French automaker is now embracing zero-emission technology with the introduction of the 2024 e-C3 in the European market. This electric supermini is set to start at approximately Rs. 20.43 Lakh (23,300 Euros), offering an affordable option for eco-conscious drivers. Even more budget-friendly models are expected in 2025, potentially making the e-C3 one of the most economical EVs on the continent.

This new e-C3, built on Stellantis’ Smart Car Platform which is the same platform used in the India-spec model, showcases a fresh design language, transforming it from a conventional small hatchback into a more crossover-like vehicle. The wheels are positioned at the vehicle’s edges, and the high roofline ensures a roomier cabin, with extra headroom and knee room for passengers. The cargo area has also been slightly expanded to enhance practicality. A striking feature of the e-C3 is the new front fascia, featuring Citroen’s updated logo flanked by distinctive C-shaped lights. The rear of the vehicle incorporates taillights that extend into the rear quarter panels and a small static spoiler above the rear window.

Under the hood, the combustion engines have been replaced by a purely electric powertrain, featuring a 44-kilowatt-hour Lithium Ferro Phosphate (LFP) battery, delivering a range of up to 320 Km between charges, as per WLTP standards. The 113 hp electric motor on the front axle propels the e-C3 from 0 to 100 kph in approximately 11 seconds. Charging the battery from 20 to 80 per cent on a 7-kilowatt charger takes about four hours, but a 100-kW CCS port at a DC fast charging station can reduce that time to less than 30 minutes.

Citroen will offer the e-C3 in two trim levels – You and Max. The base model includes features like LED headlights, an emergency braking system, a head-up display, power side mirrors, rear parking sensors, and cruise control. Opt for the Max grade, and you’ll enjoy additional perks such as 17-inch alloy wheels, two-tone exterior paint, auto wipers, power-folding and heated side mirrors, automatic climate control, wireless phone charging, and more. In 2025, Citroen will introduce a model with a smaller battery pack, offering 200 km of range on a single charge, and an even more attractive price of approximately Rs. 17.53 lakh (19,990 Euros). This positioning could make the e-C3 one of Europe’s most budget-friendly electric vehicles, competing closely with the Dacia Spring’s starting price of Rs. 18.24 lakh (20,800 Euros) in France before local incentives.
