By BMW officially launched the much-awaited new 3 Series Gran Limousine in India at the starting price of Rs. 51.50 lakh (Ex-Showroom). The 3 Series Gran Limousine is the only model in its class to come with a long wheelbase and the sedan is assembled at its Chennai plant. India is the only market in the world to get right-hand drive version of 3 Series Gran Limousine, which shows the importance of Indian market for the company and it is already available in the Chinese market as left-hand drive model.
The 3 Series Gran Limousine length is 120 mm longer than the regular 3 Series while the wheelbase has also increased by 110 mm. The increase in dimensions is evident from the rear door, which is much larger than the standard wheelbase 3 Series. The designers have also tweaked the roofline, which flows much smoother in the long-wheelbase model. Apart from these, BMW hasn’t made any design changes even the shoulder line remains the same.
The interior of 3 Series Gran Limousine is carried over but the company has made subtle changes like the new wood trim and leather colour options. To give a premium feel, BMW has added more chrome elements in the interior. One of the biggest improvement is in the rear as the long-wheelbase models get 43 mm additional legroom and the seats are much softer too. The 3 Series Long Wheelbase gets an acoustic glass and 16-speaker B&W music system.
As part of the introductory offer, BMW is giving an i-pad along with a stand to connect the tablet to front seats and a coat hanger as part of the complimentary package, which is worth more than Rs. 1 lakh. The 3 Series Gran Limousine is powered by 2.0 L petrol engine with 252 hp and a 2.0 L diesel engine with 190 hp, both mated to 8-speed automatic gearbox. BMW is offering the diesel-only with luxury trim while the petrol gets the sportier M-Sport trim too.
