By Ather is one of the fastest-growing electric two-wheeler brands in the country as the Indian start-up was able to carve out a space for itself in the Indian two-wheeler industry. The company officially introduced its first product back in 2020 and the rest is history but there were several hurdles on the path as the COVID pandemic along with lockdown slowed down the growth. The company achieved its first major production milestone of 1,00,000 units was achieved in January 2023.
But things have changed a lot as sales of electric two-wheelers picked up a lot in the one year, especially in the last few months as the government is going to stop the FAME scheme, which offers subsidies for customers who purchase the model. This strong momentum has helped Ather to achieve the next big milestone of 2,00,000 units within a year. The Indian-start up officially rolled off the 2,00,000-unit model from its plant in Tamil Nadu and the company is going to end the year on a positive momentum.
Ather is expecting strong sales growth to continue in coming years with the expansion of the portfolio as the company is gearing up to introduce the 450 Apex next month followed by the big launch of the new family scooter from the company, which is under development. The current products of Ather are focused on millennials but the upcoming family scooter is likely to be bigger than the current 450 series with a focus on range and practicality. We can expect the launch of this new scooter to take place by the end of this year.
