3 Million Vehicles Milestone For The Suzuki Motor Gujarat

Suzuki Motor Gujarat has reached another milestone as the production plant crossed the 3 million vehicles production milestone. Established in February 2017, SMG has accomplished this remarkable feat in a mere 6 years and 11 months, emerging as the fastest among all Suzuki-operated facilities to reach the 3 million vehicles mark. Notably, the last million units were produced in just about 17 months, showcasing the efficiency and productivity of SMG.

Operating with an impressive annual production capacity of 7.5 lakh units, SMG currently assembles popular models such as the Swift, Baleno, Dzire, and Fronx. The facility’s agility and advanced manufacturing processes have contributed to its rapid growth and achievement of this production milestone. A noteworthy development is SMG’s role in Maruti Suzuki’s electric vehicle (EV) strategy. The facility is set to play a pivotal role in the production of Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming battery electric vehicles, scheduled to commence in the fiscal year 2024-25. This underscores SMG’s adaptability to evolving automotive trends and its contribution to Maruti Suzuki’s commitment to sustainable mobility.

In a strategic move, the Maruti Suzuki Board of Directors recently gave the green light to the acquisition of Suzuki Motor Gujarat from Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC), Japan. What was once a wholly-owned subsidiary of SMC has now come under the ownership of Maruti Suzuki. This change in ownership structure aligns with Maruti Suzuki’s vision for growth and innovation, ensuring that SMG continues to be a key player in the brand’s manufacturing ecosystem.
