By After a long delay, Volvo India finally announced that the new generation S60 will be launched in March 2021. The Swedish maker is yet to announce the official date of the launch but the pre-bookings for the new S60 will begin on 21 January 2021 and the delivery is expected to starts from March 21, 2021. The S60 made its global debut in 2018 and the executive sedan was expected to be launched in during this festival season but the company had to delay the launch due to COVID-19.
The new S60 is based on the same Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform, which is the same underpins used in other Volvo models so the engine and other transmission will be shared with other models. The S60 follows the same design theme as bigger S90 and V60 as the front gets Thors Hammer LED headlamps and the LED DRLs extend towards the grille, which gets chrome surroundings for a premium look.
The sculpted lower bumper with black cladding on the integrated fog lamps gives a sporty look for the S60. The side design is simple as the rear view mirrors are placed on the doors and the company is expected to offer 18-inch 10-spoke diamond cut alloy wheels. The rear gets c-shape LED tail lamps along with new sculpted bumper and twin-spoke alloy wheels. The S60 will come with 5 different colour options.
The interior get same design theme as other Volvo models as the centre console gets 9-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The S60 will come with lots of advanced safety features like pilot assist, driver alert control and more. Volvo S60 is powered by 2.0 L petrol engine producing 187 hp of power and 300 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to 8-speed automatic gearbox and three drive modes – Comfort, Dynamic and Eco.
