By Toyota Showcased the SUV avatar of the Corolla named Corolla Cross in the country at the 2023 autoexpo today. However the manufacturer has no plans to bring the SUV in the market soon. The Corolla Cross features a distinct exterior design with plenty of cladding for added rugged SUV stance. With in Toyotas global SUV lineup the Corolla Cross stands in a very practical position as an alternative to the sportier C-HR while being smaller than the popular RAV4. The muscular lines and sharp body creases give the SUV a huge road presence.
However the exterior styling of the vehicle is rugged and stunning as a SUV. The interior is just carried over from the sibling Corolla. The car is offered in both petrol and petrol hybrid variants abroad. Both the Variants get 1.8 litre engine that produces 140 ps and 177 Nm torque in the petrol variant whereas the hybrid variant produces 98 ps and 142 Nm of torque. If Toyota does bring it to India, it would be a rival to the likes of the Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson facelift and Skoda Karoq. However, it seems the Corolla range of products is unlikely to come to India in any avatar since the sedan was removed from Toyota India’s portfolio earlier 2022.
