MG 4 EV Showcased In India

MG Motors have showcased their pure electric vehicle MG 4 in the country at the Auto Expo 2023. However more details of the vehicle is not yet reveled and the manufacturer most likely to launch the vehicle in near future as the Indian market is rapidly moving towards the transition to electric vehicles and the MG 4 might bring up more opportunities to brand to expand its electric portfolio in the country

The MG 4 electric hatchback was unveiled globally on July 2022. The MG 4 is a born electric car based on its parent company SAIC’s modular scalable platform. The MG 4 hatchback is quite a large vehicle with cross-over styling measuring a length of 4287 mm, width of 1836mm & 1506mm in height. Looking at the dimensions, the MG 4 is quite as large as the Mg ZS EV SUV with a shorter length of 36mm but the wheelbase is 120mm longer for the MG 4.

The MG 4 EV is available with two battery pack options- the 51kWh battery pack produces around 170 hp and the larger 64kWh produces 203 hp, both variants produce 250 Nm of Torque. The battery can be charged from 10 to 100 in 7.5 hours & 9 hours respectively for 51 kWh and 64 kWh battery packs. Whereas with the 150kW DC charger the batteries can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in 35 & 39 minutes respectively. The claimed range of the 51 kWh battery pack is 350 Km while the 64 kWh battery pack gives a range of 452 km. MG India is currently evaluating the market launch for the MG 4 EV. If launched this model will be most likely a CBU unit or a CKD.
