Tata Motors Sells 100,000 Electric Vehicles: A Major Step Towards Greener Future

Tata Motors is one of the first manufacturers in the four-wheeler industry to foray into the electric car segment as the company introduced the Tigor EV in 2018 and then followed up with the Nexon EV and Tiago EV. The real breakthrough came with the introduction of Nexon EV as it gave people a good range and the price was affordable too. The company took almost 44 months to cross the 10,000 sales mark but then it was a time when most people are not aware of electric vehicles and the segment just started to grow.

But the pace was picking up fast as the next 40,000 units were sold within 15 months, which is incredible and the last 50,000 units were sold in just nine months. Tata Motors is destroying the competition as the recently launched Tiago EV is the best-selling electric vehicle in the country thanks to its affordable pricing. Since its introduction in January 2023, Tata Motors has sold more than 19,000 units of the Tiago EV hatchback in India but the best-selling model in the electric vehicle portfolio is the Nexon EV with sales crossing 50,000 units.

Shaping the future of mobility, Tata EVs have covered a distance of 1.4 billion kilometres – an astonishing feat akin to three round trips to the sun. Ushering in an era of reduced carbon emissions and pollution, the collective efforts of the customers have saved a notable 2,19,432 tons of CO2 emissions, making a significant positive impact on the environment. From an economic standpoint, Tata EV owners have collectively saved a staggering INR 7 billion on fuel costs during the ownership of their electric vehicles. This substantial saving reflects the cost-effective and sustainable nature of this technology. Tata Motors is expanding its electric vehicle portfolio with new models.
