Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Launched In India At Rs. 2.69 Lakh

Royal Enfield has officially launched the 2024 Himalayan as the base model, featuring the Kaza Brown colour, priced at an attractive Rs. 2.69 lakh, setting the stage for an exciting adventure on two wheels. For those with a penchant for the middle Pass colour schemes, the price tag edges slightly higher at Rs. 2.74 lakh, while the Kamet White variant is available at Rs. 2.79 lakh. Topping the charts as the most expensive colourway is the Hanle Black, priced at Rs. 2.84 lakh. It’s important to note that these prices are introductory and will remain valid until December 31, 2023.

Compared to its predecessor, the Himalayan 411, the new 2024 model commands a higher price, ranging from approximately Rs. 2.15 lakh to Rs. 2.30 lakh. This places the latest iteration roughly Rs. 54,000 dearer, depending on the chosen colour variant. 2024 Himalayan introduces a host of upgrades, marking a significant departure from its predecessor. At the heart of the beast is a brand-new liquid-cooled, 452cc, single-cylinder engine named the Sherpa 450, boasting an impressive 40hp and 40Nm of torque. Paired with a 6-speed gearbox featuring a slip-and-assist clutch, this powerhouse is about 10 kg lighter than the previous LS 411 motor.

Notably, the new Himalayan features an all-new steel twin-spar frame, utilizing the engine as a stressed member. Its suspension system comprises a 43mm USD fork and a preload-adjustable monoshock, both with 200mm of travel. With a commanding ground clearance of 230mm and a customizable seat height ranging from 825mm to 845mm, the Himalayan offers riders versatility for various terrains. The motorcycle maintains its 21/17-inch wheel sizes (front/rear), but the tires are entirely new and specially crafted for the updated Himalayan. Braking duties are handled by a single 320mm disc at the front and a 270mm disc at the back, both supplied by ByBre. The inclusion of dual-channel ABS, with the option to deactivate the rear, ensures enhanced safety.

In a tech-savvy twist, the 2024 Himalayan becomes the first Royal Enfield to feature ride-by-wire technology, offering riders the choice between Eco and Performance riding modes. The 4-inch TFT dash, equipped with Bluetooth connectivity, allows seamless smartphone integration, enabling features such as displaying Google Maps data and controlling music playback via the joystick on the left switch cube. As Royal Enfield continues to evolve, the 2024 Himalayan stands as a testament to the brand’s commitment to innovation and delivering an unparalleled riding experience.
