The upcoming model showcases a departure from its predecessor, featuring fresh underpinnings and a range of powertrain options. Built on the Bigster platform, the new Duster exhibits distinct styling cues, distinguishing it from the larger 3-row SUV concept. Sporting a high bonnet line, Y-shaped headlamps, and a sleek grille seamlessly integrated with the headlamp units, the SUV’s front fascia exudes modernity. The bumper, resembling a flattened bull-bar, incorporates vertically positioned air vents on either side, adding a touch of aggression to its aesthetic.
While maintaining the profile similarities with the Bigster, the Duster introduces unique design elements, such as squared-off wheel arches, roof rails, and a spoiler. Notably, Renault has artfully designed the tapering rear quarter glass to establish a visual link between the original Duster and the forthcoming model. Blacked-out ‘B’ and ‘C’ pillars, a shadow-line below the mirrors, and stylish ten-spoke alloy wheels contribute to the SUV’s overall contemporary appeal. The rear of the new Duster is marked by sharply styled V-shaped tail-lights, offering a distinctive visual signature. However, compared to its predecessor, the design tones down the once-prominent rear haunches.
Under the hood, the third-gen Duster will boast three engine options for international markets: a 120hp, 1.0-liter turbo-petrol; a 140hp, 1.2-liter petrol hybrid; and a powerful 170hp, 1.3-liter turbo-petrol engine, flex-fuel compliant in the top variants. The latter marks the most potent Duster ever produced, promising an exhilarating driving experience.
Renault India plans to introduce the new Duster to the market by 2025, positioning it as a formidable contender in the competitive midsize SUV segment.
