Mercedes Benz EQG Concept Revealed In India

Mercedes Benz officially announced earlier this month that the EQG Concept will make its India debut at the Bharat Mobility Expo, which is going to start tomorrow. The company showcased the EQG Concept for the first time in India at today’s launch event. The EQG Concept is an early preview into the future of luxury electric vehicles. The Concept EQG, previously showcased at the Munich motor show, the production version is going to make a big impact on Mercedes Benz EV sales.

Distinguishing itself from its internal combustion-powered counterpart, the EQG comes with a distinctive solid panel featuring a 3D star pattern that replaces the traditional front grille. Complementing its electric identity are bespoke 22-inch aluminium wheels and a unique storage box, which will be a wall box charger, instead of the spare wheel carrier. The EQG doesn’t come with a front boot as the SUV has more than enough boot space. Underneath its stylish, the company has given a powerful quad-motor setup, with four individually controllable wheel-mounted motors and a two-speed gearbox offering both low-range and high-range gearing.

The EQG’s battery is seamlessly integrated into the ladder-frame chassis, ensuring a low centre of gravity for optimal performance. With a projected acceleration that surpasses the V8-powered AMG G63’s 0-100kph timing of 4.5 seconds, the EQG aims to become the fastest and most powerful G-Class in series production. A unique feature set to captivate enthusiasts is the G-Turn function, allowing the EQG to execute on-the-spot 360-degree tank turns. Activated by a dashboard-mounted button, the electric motors turn the wheels in opposing directions, providing unparalleled manoeuvrability. The driver can select the turning direction via paddle shifters on the steering wheel, adding an element of control to this electric marvel.
