Maruti Suzuki Re-Introduced Mild-Hybrid Tech On Top-End Manual Variants

Maruti Suzuki Brezza is one of the best-selling compact SUVs in the Indian market. The company made some changes to the variants in July 2023 and discontinued the mild-hybrid tech on manual variants but it was still available with the automatic gearbox options. Now the company has re-introduced the mild-hybrid tech on the manual variants of Brezza but this time the company is offering it only on the top-end manual variants. We are not sure why it is not offered on lower variants as they might want to push top-end variants.

The mild-hybrid tech is a good feature as it helps the Brezza to improve efficiency, some of the features include brake regeneration, idle start-stop and torque assist. Anyone who has driven the updated Brezza knows that the mild-hybrid tech these features work, especially regeneration and torque assist. Apart from the mild-hybrid tech, Maruti has also added some new features to the Brezza manual as it comes with 6-airbags, 360-degree camera, ESP, hill-hold assist and seat-belt reminder for all seats as all of these were already available on the automatic variants.

The Brezza is powered by a 1.5 L engine with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that produces 102 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 137 Nm @ 4,400 rpm. This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. The manual variants with mild-hybrid tech return 19.89 kmpl compared to 17.38 kmpl for variants without the tech but earlier the Brezza used to return. 20.5 kmpl. The Brezza with mild-hybrid tech is priced at Rs. 11.15 lakh for the ZXI and Rs. 12.48 lakh for the ZXI+ variant. Maruti Suzuki also offers the Brezza in CNG option.
