By The Thar is one of the most popular lifestyle vehicles currently on the market and the company is planning to expand the lineup with new models especially as they are already developing the long-wheelbase version which is the 5-door model but the launch has been delayed to next year. According to new reports, Mahindra will reveal the Thar EV concept on August 15th at the event held in South Africa as it is going to be a big debut as everyone was expecting the 5-door model.
The Thar EV is expected to be based on a completely new dedicated EV platform which the company has already commenced works on it as they are developing multiple models on this new platform. Mahindra hasn’t revealed many details about the new Thar EV but the concept is likely to look similar to the current model but the production model is sometimes away as the development is yet to begin. The big difference is expected to be the monocoque architecture compared to the body-on-frame chassis like the ICE model.
Mahindra has not yet ruled out the possibility of an electric vehicle with ladder frame chassis as the company already has commercial vehicles. Along with the Thar EV concept, Mahindra is likely to showcase some other models at the event which include a new tractor for the global market which could get more sophisticated features than the current ones on the market. The next big launch from Mahindra will be the Thar 5-door followed by updates for multiple products.
