By Mahindra Thar’s 5-door version is one of the most awaited models to be launched in India as the company had already confirmed that the launch will take place next year only as they have so many pending orders for 2023. The Indian manufacturer is testing the Thar 5-door extensively across different parts of the country as every day lots of spy pictures are coming in. We have also spotted the new Thar 5-door on test in Coimbatore as the engineers might have been testing the highway cruising of the SUV.
The prototype was camouflaged completely to hide details but one thing we can notice is that the SUV effortlessly cruises at higher speeds and the driver can easily gain speeds after slowing down. The Thar 5-door is expected to be powered by the same diesel and petrol engines as the 3-door version but the engineers might tune the engine and transmission differently to make it more responsive. One of the biggest complaints of the three-door model is practicality or the lack of boot space.
This issue is going to be addressed with the introduction of the five-door model as the length will be substantially increased and the wheelbase will improve space inside the cabin for rear passengers as well as boot space. The interior design theme of the Thar 5-door is likely to be the same as the current model with minimal changes as it will increase the overall cost. We can expect the company to add more features in the 5-door model to make it more attractive for customers. The Thar 5-door is expected to be launched by the middle of 2024.
