By Mahindra is developing the 5-door version of the Thar as the company is testing the model extensively across different parts of the country. The latest spy shots of the Thar 5-door reveal new features on the exterior and interior. Some of the features on the Thar 5-door include new fog lamps which are integrated into the front bumper along with LED headlamps and indicators which is different compared to the 3-door as it gets halogen set up. Another highlight of the Thar 5-door is the new 19-inch alloy wheels on top-end variants.
The top-end variant comes with diamond-cut alloy wheels while the mid-spec model gets simpler-looking wheels and tyres are also expected to be smaller size while the entry-level variants get steel wheels. Apart from this, the company will offer a remote fuel filling cap, rear wash, and wiper which is not offered on the three-door model. We can expect the company to offer new color options too. The interior design is similar to the three-door model but the main highlight is going to be the new infotainment system.
Like the XUV 400, Mahindra will offer dual 10.25-inch screens one for the infotainment system and the second for the instrument cluster. Some of the additional features on the new Thar 5 Door include a sunroof, push-button start, front and armrests, and rear AC vents. The reports suggest that the Thar 5-door might not come with third-row seats. Some of the safety features include six airbags and all-wheel disc brakes. The Thar 5-door is likely to be powered by the same engines as the three-door model. The launch is expected to take place by the middle of this year.
