By Mahindra will finally introduce the much-awaited Thar 5-door in India this year as the company has been testing the model extensively across different parts of the country. There were rumours that the interior is likely to be slightly different compared to the three-door model and the latest spy pictures of what appears to be the dashboard seem to be true. The overall design of the dashboard is similar to the three-door model but the main difference is the dual-tone instead of full black, the lower portion gets brown colour.
This colour might be carried over to the seats and upholstery as it will give a different look compared to the three-door model. The next change is for the infotainment system as the cut-out is slightly larger and some reports indicate that the Thar 5-door model is likely to come with a 10-inch infotainment system with the latest software. This system might come with new features which we have already seen on the XUV 700 and connected car technology will be part of the package.
Even though we can’t see clearly from the spy image, the instrument cluster appears to be different as the company might introduce a full digital console but the chances of that are very low as Thar is positioned as an off-road focused model, so the analogue cluster design is likely to be different. Apart from this, the Thar 5-door will get features like a sunroof, front armrest, handlebars on A and B-pillar etc. The Thar 5-door is expected to be powered by the same petrol and diesel engines with manual and automatic gearbox options.
