Mahindra Thar 4×2 Waiting Period Goes Upto 18 Months.

Mahindra has recently launched the 4×2 version of the Thar starting at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The vehicle is seen in huge demand in the country and the waiting period for the vehicle goes up to 18 months in just one month after the launch. Thar becomes the vehicle with the highest waiting period in the country now. On the other side, the waiting period for the Thar 4×4 is now reduced. This is a largely expected scenario that the Thar 4×2 variant will get huge likes from customers under a very affordable range and with the milder 1.5 L Diesel engine. Mahindra is in its peak position with highly demanded models in its lineup including Thar, Scorpio, and XUV7OO. The current state of Mahindra as a manufacturer is a dream moment for other manufacturers in the country. It is highly appreciated that Mahindra with its technologies and strong research and development had created world-class products and assures the quality of the vehicle even with its busy schedule.

Why do people wait 18 months for the Thar 4×2? It’s a very prominent question that can be raised by common people. The answer is that the Thar 4×2 is a vehicle which is positioned as one of the best value-for-money proper SUVs in the country that is built on the body an frame chassis. With the introduction of a smaller 1.5-litre diesel engine in the Thar, the tax of the vehicle got reduced and it is further tax benefited with sub 4-meter length. Many people don’t use the 4-wheel drive option on the 4×4 variant and don’t take it off road. Hence spending more on the 4×4 variant is a waste. The Thar 4×2 comes under the radar of many people who really love the rugged design of the vehicle at a much more affordable price and moreover in a smaller economical diesel engine.

The Thar 4×2 is offered in two powertrains- a 1.5-litre diesel engine that produces 117 bhp and 300 Nm of torque and a 2.0-litre petrol engine that produces 150 bhp and 320 Nm of torque. The diesel engine is matted to only a 6-speed manual whereas the petrol engine is matted to both a 6-speed manual and automatic transmission. Waiting for 18 months for a vehicle is a very long time. The Chairman of Mahindra and Mahindra Mr Anand Mahindra had said before that the production plant of Mahindra will be scheduled to work to its maximum to meet the need of the people, and we hope the manufacturer shall bring more adequate measures to meet the need of the people, and reduce the waiting period.
