By Land Rover officially listed the Discovery facelift on its India website and the launch is expected to take place soon. The Discovery facelift made its global debut last year in November and the SUV has been popular in India since its launch. The changes on the facelift model are minor like most of the new JLR mid-life updates as the front gets tweaked bumper and grille but the headlamps have been upgraded to LED Matrix, which offers more visibility at night.
The changes to the side include new alloy wheels while the rear gets a tweaked bumper and an updated LED tail lamps, which looks sharper than the outgoing model. Land Rover will also offer an R-Dynamic variant in India as it offers a sportier bumper along with gloss-black elements to increase the sporty quotient. The changes to the interior are minor but the major change is the introduction of a conventional gear knob instead of the rotary one on the earlier model.
One of the main highlights of the interior is going to be the big 11.4-inch Pivi Pro infotainment system, which comes with better graphics and response compared to the previous system. The Pivi Pro gets the latest software of Land Rover and the interface is new. Some of the features of this system include Fast start-up, Artificial intelligence, All-new intelligent navigation, 2D and 3D maps with automatic updates, Live traffic information, OTA updates and more.
Land Rover will offer three engine options with Discovery. The entry-level model will be powered by a 2.0 L petrol engine with 300 hp and 400 Nm while the bigger 3.0 L inline-six-cylinder engine puts out 360 hp and 500 Nm. The only diesel engine is the 3.0 L inline unit producing 300 hp and 650 Nm. The 3.0 L petrol and diesel engines come with 48V mild-hybrid system to improve efficiency and these engines are mated to 8-speed automatic gearbox.
