By MG is known for its aggressive pricing at the launch to attract buyers and subsequently increasing the price in the future. The company introduced the Gloster back in October 2020 and the impressive starting price helped MG to get high bookings. Initially, the Gloster was sold out for 2020. Then the British manufacturer increased the price except for the base variant and now the second price revision has happened as this time it is for the top variant.
The Gloster is available in four variants – Super, Smart, Sharp and Savvy. The top 6-seat Savvy variant price increased by a whopping Rs. 80,000 and it currently starts at Rs. 36.08 lakhs (Ex-Showroom) while the entry-level model retails at Rs. 29.98 lakh. The Smart 6-seater variant price was increased by Rs. 50,000 compared to the launch price as the Ex-Showroom price is Rs. 31.98 lakh. The Sharp 6 and 7 seaters saw a price hike of Rs. 70,000.
MG offers Gloster in either 6 or 7-seat options but it is available only in Smart and Sharp as the top-end Savvy variant comes with a 6-seater option only. Recently the company has also increased the price of Hector by almost Rs. 43,000 and this was the third price hike for the SUV. Even though Gloster price is on the premium end, MG is getting a good response from the customers as the SUV is loaded with lots of features to lure customers.
One of the major USP of Gloster is its size as it is clearly bigger than its rivals as the SUV is longer than the current generation Toyota Land Cruiser. The interior continues the premium feel as the design is inspired by BMW models especially the centre console and infotainment system. MG Gloster is powered by a 2.0 L diesel engine producing 218 hp and 480 Nm on Sharp and Savvy while the Super and Smart get the same engine with a single turbo puts out 163 hp and 375 Nm.
