Jaguar TCS Racing To Debut I-Type 6 in India At Hyderabad E-Prix

Jaguar TCS Racing will debut their Jaguar I-TYPE 6 in India this weekend, as the 2023 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship takes to the streets of Hyderabad for the first time. Jaguar returned to racing in October 2016, becoming the first luxury manufacturer to join the all-electric ABB FIA Formula E Championship street racing series. Formula E is a real-world test bed for Jaguar with its journey to becoming an all-electric luxury brand from 2025. Jaguar TCS Racing’s goal is to ‘Reimagine Racing’ and together the team will test, develop, learn and collaborate, sharing insights across Jaguar Land Rover which will benefit future road car development.

The 2023 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship takes to the streets of Hyderabad for the first time. The race comprises of 32 laps of a 2.83km street circuit. The drivers of Jaguar Sam Bird and Mitch Evans are in the fourth and ninth positions, respectively. while Jaguar TCS Racing is currently in the fifth position. The race will debut the new car in India the Jaguar I-Type 6, it can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in merely 2.8 seconds. It has a claimed top speed of 322kmph. The cars are equipped with a 350kW motor at the rear and a 250kW motor on the front, which is mainly used to harness energy under braking. Jaguar says its latest Formula E racer is 74kg lighter and 100kW more powerful than the car that preceded it. With a powerful regenerative braking technology, the all-electric race car has no conventional rear brakes. This technology will be eventually used in the future EVs of Jaguar.

Jaguar TCS Racing has also announced a new partnership with AERO, which will provide car livery material. AERO’s self-healing film system will be used on the new black, white and gold asymmetric livery of the Jaguar I-Type 6. AERO’s technology is based on urethane film chemistry that provides better toughness than other coating systems, while also being 60% lighter than spray-applied paints. Bringing with it a wealth of environmental benefits, including emitting zero carbon, no volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and containing no polyvinyl chloride (PVC) compounds, AERO’s product echoes the team’s participation in the world’s first net carbon zero sport.
