Hyundai Alcazar Production Model Officially Revealed

Hyundai Alcazar Production Model Officially Revealed

Hyundai officially revealed the much-awaited new Alcazar in India. The Alcazar is based on the same platform as Hyundai Creta but the engineers have made lots of changes. The overall dimensions have gone up as the wheelbase increased by 150 mm, which now stands at 2,760 mm and it will help to improve the third-row space as the Creta is one of the spacious SUV in its segment. The 7-seater SUV uses 75.6 % Advanced and High-Strength Steel.

The design theme of Alcazar is inspired by the Creta as both models share some body parts to keep the cost down. The hood and doors are shared with the Creta to name a few but the front grille has been tweaked even though it is the signature Hyundai grille. The headlamps are the split type with LEDs on the top-end model. The side design took some inspirations from the earlier generation Mercedes ML SUV especially the quarter glass for rear passengers.

The SUV comes with 18-inch wheels but the design is different from Creta as the rear gets wrap-around type LED tail lamps and a new bumper. Hyundai is expected to offer new colour options on the Alcazar. The interior design is yet to be revealed and it is likely to be shared with Creta but the big talking point is going to be the second and third-row with the option of either 6 or 7-seats. All models come with single touch tumbling seat option.

Hyundai has also focused on driving dynamics as they have made the chassis more rigid and hopefully it will translate to better road behaviour. The Alcazar is powered by an updated 2.0 L petrol engine, which already does duty on Elantra and Tucson and it produces 159 PS and 192 Nm of torque. The diesel engine is the same 1.5 L unit from Creta with 115 PS. These engines are mated to 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox options with various driving modes. The launch is expected to take place soon.
