Ford Might Introduce Endeavour As Everest In India

Ford Endeavour has a cult following in the Indian market as it is the SUV which is preferred by enthusiastic customers rather than going for the ultra-expensive Toyota Fortuner. Since the departure of Ford in India, the popularity of the model has been skyrocketing as it is very difficult to get an Endeavour. We had already reported that Ford is coming back to India and the American manufacturer is finalising the plans for the re-entry. One of the models coming in the second innings is the new Endeavour and the company had already filed design patents.

In global markets, Ford Endeavour is christened Everest, which is a common thing for manufacturers to give different names for regions. Earlier, Ford could not use the Everest name because it was already secured by some other brand. According to new reports, Ford might have been able to get back the Everest name as the Endeavour could be replaced this time. Initially, Ford is planning to bring limited units of Endeavour as a full import before the assembly operation, which is expected to begin sometime next year.

If the company went ahead with the Endeavour name then it could incur extra expenses as they need to make new nameplates, logos and badges. The imported models are expected to be priced on the premium-end and they are not expecting volumes too. Once the local assembly starts, then the company could price it well. The Everest is already on sale in many International markets and we are not expecting any specific changes to the Indian market as engine options include either 2.0 L or 3.0 L diesel engines with manual and automatic with two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive options.
