MG officially launched the ZS EV in India on January 23. Initially, the electric SUV was only available in five cities and the British manufacturer announced during launch that the EV will be introduced soon in other cities too. We got exclusive information that the ZS EV Kerala launch will take place in the first week of June and initial units are expected to reach the dealership by the end of this month.
Like Kochi, the sales will soon begin in other cities too. Currently, the fast charging works are going on and it is expected to be finished by the end of this month. The kits for the ZS EV is imported and assembled at the Halol plant. Earlier reports have also indicated that the company is planning to increase localization on ZS EV, which is expected to reduce the cost of the ZS EV.
MG is also planning to launch the Hector plus in India next month and it was showcased for the first time at the 2020 Auto Expo. Even though COVID-19 has affected certain growth plans, MG is sticking to its road map for 2020 launches. The ZS EV comes with a 44.5 kWh battery back with IP67 rating and it is manufactured by SAIC-CATL.
The single electric motor, which sends power to the front wheel produces 142.7 PS of power and 353 Nm of torque. The claimed range of ZS EV is 340 km and it can reach 0-100 kph in just 8.5 sec. MG is also offering fast charging with the ZS EV and standard wall mount charger can be installed at home or office.
