Renault officially revealed the new Captur facelift ahead of the public debut in Russia soon. This time the French manufacturer has shown rear and interior too as the front end was already revealed in March. The cosmetic changes to the Captur are minor, which includes a redesigned V-shape for the front grille with chrome finish.
The changes to the side include a new set of alloy wheels and the rear gets a new bumper. The interior is virtually carried over from the previous model except for the new multi-function steering wheel and the infotainment system is 8-inch instead of the 7-inch on the previous model. Renault has given new software for the system.
Like most of the modern cars, Renault Captur comes with connected car features and the model will get over the air updates too but the company hasn’t confirmed the time frame. One of the highlight feature of Captur according to Renault is the remote engine start. Nissan is also offering this feature in the recently updated Kicks.
The biggest change for Captur is the platform as the new model is based on updated BO+ platform, which uses 55% new components compared to the earlier version. The Captur for European and other developed markets is based on the advanced CMF-B platform, but this one was ruled out for emerging markets due to the cost.
Along with this, Renault is offering the new 1.3 L turbocharged petrol engine with Captur facelift and this engine was developed by Daimler and Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi. According to Renault, this engine produces 150 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque. The French manufacturer is only offering CVT gearbox option with this engine.
Renault is expected to launch the updated Captur in Indian market by the end of this year or early 2021. But the company might not introduce the updated platform for the Indian model as it will increase the cost significantly and the model has been a big failure for Renault. The Captur compete against Nissan Kicks, Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
