By BMW updated the 3 Series lineup for 2021, which happens usually at the beginning of every year. Like last year, the company again discontinued the Sport trim variant of the 3 Series but it made a come back last year even though this time we are not expecting the German brand to re-introduce the Sport diesel trim. BMW learned the lessons with the launch of 2 Series earlier this year as the price was so high and not competitive, which made the 3 Series look a better buy.
So the company decided to price the 3 Series Gran Limo at an aggressive price tag. The diesel option of 3 Series is now available only with the Luxury Line and customers who want M-sport have to buy the petrol option as most of the customers choose the latter for better fuel economy. The 320d Luxury Line is priced at Rs. 47.9 lakh and customers who are looking for extra comfort along with bit more leg space at the rear can get the Gran Limo Luxury Line variant at Rs. 52.50 lakh (both prices, Ex-Showroom).
The 3 Series diesel range is powered by 2.0 L turbocharged diesel engine producing 190 hp of power and 400 Nm of torque while the petrol option is the 2.0 L turbo unit, which comes with 258 hp and 400 Nm. Both these engines are mated to 8-speed automatic gearbox and power is sent to rear wheels. The Gran Limo diesel can hit the 100 kph in just 7.6 sec while the petrol engine is even quicker at 6.2 sec.
The 3 Series is the only model in its segment to offer a long-wheelbase option like the E Class in the segment above. Most customers in India prefer to be chauffeur-driven, which is why BMW decided to introduce the 3 Series Gran Limo and India is the only market in the world to get the right-hand drive model. The company assemble the model at its Chennai plant, which helps them to price the model aggressively against the competition.
