2021 Mercedes-AMG E63 Spied Once Again, Debut Later This Month

Mercedes Benz officially revealed the E Class facelift earlier this year but the German manufacturer didn’t showcase the hardcore E63 and it was expected to be revealed in April. Due to the pandemic, Mercedes delayed the launch and they are yet to reveal any official date even though reports around the Internet suggest that the new model will be revealed online later this month as E63 arch-rival BMW M5 will make its debut on June 17th.

Motor1 spotted the E63 prototype testing at the Nurburgring for one last time ahead of the official debut. The test mule has minor camouflage at the front and the 4.0 L Bi-Turbo V8 badge is also hidden but we already know what to expect as the German manufacturer has already showcased the E53 during the launch. The front gets new Panamericana vertical slat grille, which gives the E63 a meaner look compared to its predecessor and the bumper also comes with minor tweaks for better aerodynamics.

The changes to the side include new alloy wheels and new high-performance brakes too. While the rear gets new LED tail lamps and a new bumper with quad exhaust pipes. The engineers at AMG has also redesigned the diffuser to improve air-flow at the rear to improve downforce. The interior is likely to get the same design as E53, which includes all-black finish, new AMG steering wheel, sports seats, Alcantara leather and more.

Mercedes AMG E63 will be powered by the same 4.0 L Bi-Turbo engine from its predecessor and the “S” variant is expected to produce 603 hp of power and 850 Nm of torque, which is lower than the M5 Competition. This engine will be mated to an updated 7-speed gearbox and four-wheel-drive system. Some rumours point out that the power output might increase. Mercedes has already confirmed that the E Class facelift will reach Indian shores next year.
