Volkswagen Tayron SUV Officially Revealed

Volkswagen officially revealed the Tayron SUV at the Beijing Auto Show 2024. The Tayrson SUV is known as Tiguan L Pro in the Chinese market, the Tayron represents the seven-seater variant of the new-generation Tiguan, which debuted earlier this year. While its design maintains familiarity with the European Tiguan, the Tayron distinguishes itself with a more elongated profile, measuring 4,735 mm in length, nearly 200 mm longer than its standard counterpart, and standing marginally taller at 1,682 mm.

Inside, the Tayron mirrors the sophistication of the new-gen Tiguan, boasting a spacious cabin adorned with a large 15-inch central touchscreen and a digital instrument cluster. A notable addition is the third 11.6-inch infotainment display dedicated to the co-driver, potentially setting a new standard for in-car technology. Moreover, advanced features like VW’s IQ Lights and IQ Pilot driver aids promise enhanced safety and convenience for occupants. While initially featuring a five-seat layout in the Chinese market, the Tayron is anticipated to offer a third row of seats in other markets, akin to the now-discontinued Tiguan Allspace.

Under the hood, Volkswagen has confirmed a robust 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, producing 217 bhp and 350 Nm of torque. With a top speed of 200 kmph and the option of all-wheel drive, the Tayron is primed to compete with formidable rivals like the Skoda Kodiaq in global markets. As speculation mounts about its potential entry into the Indian market, Volkswagen’s history with the Tiguan Allspace hints at a promising future for the Tayron. We can expect the German manufacturer to introduce the seven-seater version after the launch of the new Tiguan.
