Toyota To Launch Its First Electric In India In The Second Half of 2025

The electric segment in India is growing at a really good pace as most of the manufacturers are working on new models to take on existing models. Toyota has yet to introduce electric vehicles in India even though the company has many models in its International portfolio. According to new reports, the Japanese manufacturer is planning to introduce its first electric SUV to the Indian market by the second half of 2025. This is Toyota’s version of Maruti Suzuki eVX production model which will be introduced in the first half of 2025.

The Urban SUV Concept shares a similar design theme to the eVX as the company is expected to introduce the production version towards the end of 2024. Both the Urban SUV and the eVX underpins the all-new 27PL Skateboard electric platform, which is jointly developed by Toyota and Suzuki as the first product to come out from this platform is going to be the production version of eVX. The Urban SUV Concept looks slightly toned down compared to eVX as the front gets full-length DRL while the bumper design is simple and the company has given air curtains on either side to reduce drag while the hood is also sculpted.

The concept model gets a camera on either side instead of the mirror and reports suggest that the production model could carry the same as replacing mirrors with cameras is not yet mainstream. The rear gets full-length LED tail lamps along with the same bumper design as the front. The interior of the concept is not yet revealed but it could be similar to the eVX. Toyota will offer both single-electric motor and dual-electric motor versions of the Urban SUV Concept, while the expected range of the SUV could be around 400 km.
