By SUV is one of the fastest growing segments in India; globally, compact SUV sales are booming. This article looks at the top 5 best-selling compact SUVs above four meters last month. Ever since its launch, Hyundai Creta has been the undisputed king in this segment and it is evident from the sales as the Korean manufacturer sold 13077 units last month compared to 11880 units in the same month last year. The year-on-year growth of the Creta is 10.08 per cent and the market share is 25.76 per cent, which is high as it is one of the toughest segments to crack.
Hyundai is working on an update for the Creta, which is expected to arrive sometime next year. The second-best-selling model in the compact SUV segment is the recently launched Kia Seltos as the company sold 12,362 units in October 2023 compared to 9777 units, which is a 24.35 per cent market and year-on-year growth of 26.44 per cent. The facelift model has helped Seltos to bring back the numbers of the earlier version as the SUV gets lots of exterior and interior changes along with premium features.
Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara is the third-best-selling model SUV in India with 10864 units sold in October 2023 compared to 8052 units in the same month last year. The year-on-year growth is 34.55 per cent and the market share is 21.34 per cent. In fourth position is the latest entrant, Honda Elevate as the Japanese manufacturer sold 4957 units and the market share is 9.76 per cent. The fifth best-selling SUV in India is Toyota Hyryder as the company sold 3987 units last month compared to 3384 units in October 2022 and year-on-year growth.
