Tata Tiago and Tigor CNG Automatic Teased, Bookings Open

Tata Motors already offers CNG variants of Tiago and Tigor in the Indian market. Now the company is planning to expand the lineup with automatic variants as the Indian manufacturer released a teaser of the upcoming launch via its social media platform and the Indian manufacturer officially opened bookings for both models. This will be the first time that CNG comes with the option of an automatic gearbox, which has the potential to shake up the market. The company is expected to offer an AMT gearbox with the Tiago and Tigor CNG variants as it is already available with a regular petrol engine.

Like the Altroz CNG, Tata Motors will offer the Tiago and Tigor CNG in the top two variants – XT and XZ+, which will be loaded with features as the company has already proved with Altroz that customers prefer top-end variants as it is more convenient. Both the Tiago CNG automatic and Tigor CNG automatic are powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine found in their manual variants. This engine produces 73.4 PS at 6000 RPM and 95 Nm of torque at 3500 RPM in CNG mode, and 86 PS and 113 Nm of torque in petrol mode.

The Tiago and Tigor CNG will come with twin-cylinder technology, which optimizes space utilization in the boot, ensuring ample luggage capacity. However, it’s expected that the fuel efficiency of the automatic CNG variants might be marginally down compared to the manual variants. The price of the Tiago and Tigor CNG is expected to be slightly higher than the manual variants. The company is likely to expand the CNG variant lineup with more models and the Altroz might soon get the option of automatic too.
