Tata Motors To Launch Altroz EV Next Year

Tata Motors is one of the fastest-growing electric vehicle manufacturers in the Indian market as the company is expanding its EV lineup with the introduction of new models and updates for the existing vehicles. The company showcased the electric version concept of the Altroz back in 2019 at the Geneva Motor Show and then showcased a near-production version at the 2020 Auto Expo. Even though we got several electric products from Tata Motors after this, the Altroz EV was delayed for a very long time.

According to new reports, Tata Motors is finally going to introduce the Altroz EV in the Indian market next year. The Altroz EV will be based on the new platform, which made its debut in the Punch EV earlier this month. One of the reasons for the delay of the Altroz EV was that ground clearance of the hatchback would be reduced by 20 mm to 145 mm, which is significantly closer to the ground because of the addition of the battery pack. If they increase the ground clearance then it will spoil the stance of the hatchback.

With the introduction of this new platform, Tata Motors was able to address the issue but the development of the product is still ongoing which is why the company is taking so much time, as they have several other products in the pipeline including Curvv EV followed by the Harrier EV and Safari EV. Tata Motors will also bring back the iconic Sierra nameplate. The Altroz EV is expected to get a battery pack between 25-35 kWh with a range likely to be around 315 km – 421 km. Like most of the other Tata products, the Altroz EV supports fast charging too.
